Our WMS Guitar Class Concert is one week away. On December 6, 2016, beginning at 6:30 PM, we will host our families and friends for a fun holiday "in-formance." An "in-formance" is a concert that is meant to be informative, "in-tertaining", and a bit informal.
We hope you will join us! Here is what students and their families need to know: 1. Assigned concert music must be polished and passed off in class by Thursday, Dec. 1st. 2. Concert starts at 6:30 on Tuesday, Dec. 6. 3. Students need to arrive at 6:00. 4. Students should wear best dress. Shirt and slacks; dress or blouse and skirt/nice slacks. Shoulders and calves must be covered. 5. The concert is required. As mentioned in previous posts (see below), there are resources available to practice with. Practicing with the YouTube versions of the songs will help students ensure that they are ready to perform well in the group performance setting.

Today I surprised most of the students in class by assigning them new music. To boot, I then told them to be ready to perform their new songs in thirty minutes!
Performing with such a quick turnaround time may have been a bit unnerving for the kids. But with our concert just a few days away, I think it was good for them to get a taste of preparing to perform when it is crunch time. While every group has plenty of work yet to do in order to be ready for the concert, they should be proud of the way they handled today's challenge. One downside of today was that they have not had many online resources to help them prepare the new concert music. I have noticed that when kids practice with the online resources at home, they inevitably do better in class. With that in mind, I have prepared something special for you, and it is just in time for Thanksgiving! CLICK HERE to see links to the resources. I encourage every student to work hard on their assigned songs over the next several days and enjoy improving. Hopefully you will find these helps useful. Maybe you will even want to share them to help teach others some fun music on the guitar as well! |
